This Jet engine example was published on Thingiverse by GE.

Looks great and is quite fun to spin.

Chris painted the split line, the feet were stolen from a Robox.

Where can I find instructions on setting up Automaker for dual materials? I don’t yet have the dual material kit (due August) but want to understand how to set up Automaker so I am ready for it. I used the GE fan as an example, but can’t see how to get the Z position for the Main_Fan_2 part to align with the main part. I loaded the models separately, otherwise Automaker treats the models as a group, so doesn’t allow me to assign different materials.

In your file browser select the 2 models.

Drag them into an empty project in AM. They will load in as a group.

Double click on one of the parts and you will enter the group with that one selected.

Click the Orange or Blue, Material 1/Material 2, buttons on the layout screen. This selects which model will be created with each material. Blue and orange are just representations of 2 different materials not the actual colour…

Click away from the model to leave the group.

You can do all the above with a single material head fitted. When you have the dual material head fitted you will see the 2 materials loaded on the left pane of the screen and also be able to select which material is used in the automatic support generation.
