I spent 20 minutes this morning trying to work out why my ABS wasn’t sticking to the bed very well on the first layers. I then realised that because I’m using PolySupport off the bed it was overriding the ABS bed temperature and setting it to 70 degC. Obviously I gave myself a slap and tried to wake up a bit.
Not a huge problem as I just start the print and adjust the temperature manually but shouldn’t AM go with the higher bed temperature? I know the ABS bed temp is technically too high for PolySupport but it works just fine.

It is safer hardware wise to go with the lower temp.
23/02/2017 at 2:15 pm #37203It is ok to crank the bed temp up for the polysupport if needed, just don’t leave it in hot ambient conditions for long periods without it moving, it can get stuck in the tubes.
23/02/2017 at 2:19 pm #37204@pete I can just carry on doing what I’m doing. I just thought that it might confuse a new user who prints with ABS and PolySupport and either get severe warping or no adhesion at all. Its a likely combination.

23/02/2017 at 4:17 pm #37217@pete @simonhoult I use PolySupport with a hot bed all the time. I have never had a problem. PolySupport always prints well, even when coupled with ABS. I do use TitanX instead of the CEL ABS so my prints don’t end up looking like bananas, and it does tolerate a lower bed temp. I also use it with ColorFabb HT which likes a hot bed and have never had a problem with it. I think that classing the PolySupport with PLA is erroneous and PLA mode should have an override.
