The current print profiles are for the S1 head. Is there an easy way to convert the profiles to work with the S2 head without needing to do a complete re-wright.

@henry Try opening the profile in a text editor - with AutoMaker closed - and saving it with a new name. Then change all references to “SM” to “S2”. I have done this with a couple of profiles and it worked. I can’t guarantee it though.

Nice, can you post a picture with a LED on the lightpipe.

@microcan This is about the best I can do. The design will be for a Neopixel strip.

You can see that the lightpipe works tolerably well. There is a hotspot in the center as you would expect but there is also a pretty crisp line at the edge of each segment, showing the material dissipates the light at least a little.

    Look nice,

My Dual Material Head kit arrived this week, I hope I have it installed this weekend so I can do this kind of stuff with two materials one transparent and one opaque.

Do you get the HT filament and put it on a robox reel, then use your custom print profile?

I want to print some clear parts, is there much difference to the ngen clear you can buy from robox regarding transparency?

    Thanks!

@aftconsult I place a small turntable, known as a lazy Susan here in the states, next to my printer and put the ColorFabb reel on it. I then create my profile and select the material from the drop down list.

Please note that since this is a third-party material and is not sold on a SmartReel that you must have Advanced Mode active to be able to use the profile and you use this material at your own risk. HT is harder to use than XT or nGen because it can’t be manufactured as accurately so it will cause skipping and feed errors in certain situations.

When printed with the profiles for maximum clarity, there is a noticeable difference between HT, XT, and nGen. It has to do with the higher print temperature and longer soft time of HT. The layers melt together much better and this promotes clarity.

I have several empty Robox spools. I don’t re-spool the filament but i do place an old spool on the Robox and write the filament profile to the spool. Robox knows what filament it’s using based on the spool. Filament comes off of it’s original spool.

Ok, thanks for the info, I’ll start with the robox spool I think I see how that is

ColorFabb were here last week, the said that they got their clear parts by accident, the guy operating the machine used the wrong profile for the material he was asked to use. They repeated the print and told us that slow and hot was the way to improve translucency.
