    My friend has a problem printing on the Robox. They are on an island doing a camp for under-privileged kids. He’s busy and he asked me to help. I couldn’t print it using my Robox at home either.

    This is a bunch of Chinese words. (Rules for using an “Infinity” tree house). Although I might not do it this way, I am curious to know why it fails and possibly how to correct the problem.

    The words are initially done in Tinkercad. The STL file (2.18MB) generated:

    https://1drv.ms/u/s!Av_zKO3ZgNpCi5wpsh5gUP-NAspZkg

    When loading into AM, there is a mesh error (as with other STL from Tinkercad) reported. Ignoring it and trying to Make!, slicer just failed.

    I tried to import it in 3D Builder and repaired it. Saved as OBJ (1.51MB)

    https://1drv.ms/u/s!Av_zKO3ZgNpCi5wqISrqEuwbQXfn7g

    When loading into AM, no error reported but still failed to slice.

    Any clues?

    Thanks in advance.

    @williamha I am guessing it is too small. Your minimum wall thickness should be at least 2x your nozzle diameter. This would not print well anyway because of all the separate parts.

    If they separate the words into individual prints and print them larger they should be able to print, but they will get better results if they put a back plate on the words. I would also print something like this vertically with the words extruded or cut about 0.2-0.3 mm out of or into the vertical surface, preferably into the surface. You will get better detail representation and a cleaner print.

    I operate two Betas and four Production Robox.

    @bhudson

    Thank you for the suggestion. I agree a base plate would probably help. I would do it this way too.

    My friend did mention that if he separated into 2 halves, AM can slice and proceed to start printing.

    Perhaps for some reasons, he prefers to have the words done in this way. I will see how he ended up tackling the problem when he comes back.
