    I can’t manage to print a simple screen / grid of lines. Slic3r can do it but Cura can’t. I tried to use the Normal Profile’s values for constructing the lines in the model

    firstLayerHeight = 0.3;
    layerHeight = 0.2;
    firstLayerExtrusionWidth = 0.6;
    fillExtrusionWidth = 0.4;

    Here is a gist with the .scad source and STL export. I’ve attached Slic3r’s results (GCODE preview and 2D SVG output). No use showing CuraEngine results because it’s just nothing, 4KB of empty Robox GCODE boilerplate.

    What should I do to print a screen successfully with my Robox?

    P.S. CuraEngine is at v3.3.1 now, is your version still at v1.5?

    @leeroy Actually, v1.5 refers to SteamEngine, and that was very similar to 15.01 in the old Cura aka the Daid legacy stuff. the new Cura is vastly rewritten, and isn’t comparable, as it’s hugely expanded, and the 3.3.1 gcode is not compatible with any Robox as is, but I have got it to work, and it works very well.

    This non AutoMaker and non approved CEL solution is just being refined to make it more foolproof, but it’s very nice to use, as the visualisation, and support permutations are just so much more enhanced. 🙂

    @leeroy I had issues with your stl file, because it has some features in it that are not understood by most STL file imports when dropping into my CAD packages or trying to preview the file in generic viewers in macOS..

    Have you tried drawing it in another CAD package, and then exporting as a stl? You might get better results in AutoMaker, as I too just get a “blank” object in my layout. BTW, one software said the file was too big to display. 🙂 Maybe you need to add some missing header info to the file?

    @17bt You’re right, looking at the STL file… it’s just terrible topology. I also tried loading the STL into Slic3r and then re-exporting from Slic3r. Resulted in a smaller file because of switching to binary… Not sure about other changes. However, Cura 3.3.0 manages to slice it without issue, producing a similar result to Slic3r.

    Either way, OpenSCAD exports ought to work without any further post-processing. If I’ve stumbled onto a problem I should report it.
