@17bt Have you tried raising or lowering the aluminium heat bed via the torx screws dotted around the edges? I’ve found that doing so has helped to even out the levelling for the PEI bed, which has to be placed convex side down.
For what its worth, I’ve found that the bed mapping doesn’t really seem to work for me, it has always printed too close…[Read more]

@pete If the connector was damaged and the head wasn’t heating up correctly (i.e. cold), then isn’t it possible that the material in the head wouldn’t be viscous enough to flow and be able to build pressure to pop the seal?
I.e. trying to push a molten mass of plastic would be more likely to build pressure and flow between the seal and needle,…[Read more]

much obliged @chazr33gtr 🙂
I am deathly afraid of needle valve seals failing and its always handy to have a DIY guide for such things. I am also waiting for the single heads to come out for hopefully under 50 quid *wink wink CEL*

( Ive got very proficient at this by the way if anyone needs to know how to do it and maintain the nozzles sealing to the heater blocks).
Do you have a writeup/guide for the above?

Rats, thats not a good sign - I was under the impression that the new valve seals were designed specifically for this problem (if it is indeed blown seals again). CEL has been exemplary with their support for me as well, but having had 2 or 3 print heads sent back with that problem, I was looking forward to a more reliable solution…

@jack-strong is that the newer print head version (RBX01-S2)? If so, how many hours has it done?

@click Fishin’ ain’t what it used to be - Shimano reels cost a small fortune now! I suppose its a small mercy that you could probably print out your own hard bodied lures…

Found a clearer video to explain the concept, but I suppose any mechanism that will convert rotational motion into reciprocating motion will do. Just that the screw version is quite compact and elegant 🙂

you get the idea…

If you like fishing and are familiar with baitcasters, they have a levelwind mechanism that spools line onto the reel evenly. They have been around for years, so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has already adapted it for this purpose.
Having the spool rotate faster than the line coming off it is a disaster during the cast, so you can be…[Read more]

I have Meshmixer installed on my mac, and it does a good job cutting up models. Whilst you’re at it, you can also clean up the mesh and generate supports if you are unhappy with the Automaker supports.

Hi fellow Roboxers,
Apologies for posting this here if it is inappropriate, but I wasn’t sure where else I should post.
I have made the decision to sell off my Robox. Ever since junior came along, I’ve had very little time to devote to 3D printing (or other leisure stuff!) and consequently the Robox has been sitting idle most of the time.

If its a box you’re after, the Venus Box is interesting: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1559232
Or maybe a cryptex with their name as the key?: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:918770
Or if they’re on the Pokémon Go bandwagon…lots of low-poly Pokémons are available…
